Marsh arch “rainbow curve” bridge, the original Route 66 bridge over Brush Creek, west of Baxter Springs.
A more modern bridge has replaced it, but the Brush Creek Bridge is still maintained and accessible. Built in 1923, it is the only remaining Marsh bridge on Route 66. It is on the National Historic Registry.
Very nice to see this project continued.
Thank you 🙂 There are two more upcoming sets of photos from this adventure to post on Dharma Anchor and a few more that will go to The Faded History Project.
Great, I’ll look forward to seeing them
Beautiful bridge. Is it open to traffic or pedestrian use only?
Both, but it’s off to the side of the new bridge so that it does not bear the brunt of the traffic.
